PointsBet announces signing a 10-year deal with the Arizona-based Cliff Castle Casino to enter the state. Cliff Castle is an economic organization of Yavapai-Apache, a federally recognized tribe that pursues online sports betting in Arizona.
Doug Ducey (Arizona’s Governor) passed a law in April that allows online sports wagering in the state. The law permits 20 sportsbook operators to run in Arizona, allowing tribal casinos and sports franchises to apply for a license.
Authorities have set September 9th as the primary tentative launch date for legalizing sports betting. After that, Cliff Castle and PointsBet are looking to get a first skin license to run their sports betting business in Arizona. The ventures will use PointsBet’s website and mobile app to run the operation.
PointsBet must pay market access fees alongside a part of the net revenue to the Yavapai-APache tribe to operate in the state. The operator will also use the funds to establish an exquisite sportsbook within the Cliff Castle, monitored by the Yavapai-Apache tribe.
Moreover, the operator will also pay the regulatory and licensing costs regarding the launching and operating of sports betting within Arizona. PointBet is also planning to donate to a public interest fund focused on the youth of the tribe.
Johnny Aitken (Chief Executive of PointsBet) stated that the PointsBet team is excited to work with Cliff Castle to enter the sports-loving and passionate communities of Arizona. The operator looks forward to launching esteemed sports betting products throughout customer touchpoints in the state. PointsBet aims to responsibly and quickly introduce sports enthusiasts and bettors to the state-of-the-art solutions offered by PointsBet. Its end-to-end technology will offer easy-to-use and diverse betting alternatives to the community.
PointsBet recently joined hands with Riverboat Group to collaborate at the on-the-Potomac venue. With the deal, PointsBet managed to secure access in Maryland. Now with Cliff Castle helping the operator and the amount of preparation it has shown, PointsBet is ready to enter Arizona and expand its operations.
